TIP outlines conditions for local election candidacy
TIP has outlined the conditions for becoming a candidate for the local elections. The special fee amount among the conditions has sparked debate on the left.

According to a statement made by the Workers' Party of Turkey (TIP), the application conditions for local government election candidacy have been determined.
Accordingly, those who wish to become candidates for the local government elections to be held on March 31, 2024, must apply between November 26, 2023, and December 24, 2023.
FEE DEMAND FOR CANDIDACY
The special fee amounts required to be paid for candidacy, which are among the conditions, have caused controversy.
The fees have been set as follows: 30,000 TL for Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidacy, 20,000 TL for Provincial Municipality Mayoral Candidacy, 15,000 TL for Metropolitan District Municipality Mayoral Candidacy, 10,000 TL for Non-Metropolitan District Municipality Mayoral Candidacy, 7,500 TL for Town Municipality Mayoral Candidacy, 2,000 TL for Municipal Council Membership Candidacy, and 3,000 TL for Provincial General Assembly Membership Candidacy.
Furthermore, it was stated that half of the announced application fee will be charged to women, LGBTI+ individuals, youth under the age of 25, and those with a disability report of 40% or higher from a health board.
