HE BECAME A CANDIDATE FOR ÇANKAYA

The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) has announced that İrfan Değirmenci is their candidate for Mayor of Çankaya.

TİP announced Değirmenci's candidacy on its social media account with the following statement: "For years, he spoke about and brought every kind of rent-seeking, plunder, and corruption to the agenda; now he will speak about a municipal approach in Çankaya that favors equality, freedom, and change! Our Çankaya Mayoral Candidate is İrfan Değirmenci!"

İrfan Değirmenci, for his part, emphasized "We are starting" in a post on his social media account.

Değirmenci stated, "I was a child in Bahçeli, I studied in Sıhhiye, I went to university in Cebeci. I fell in love for the first time in this city. And here it is, announced on February 14. HERE WE GO ÇANKAYA. Dear residents of Çankaya, Çankaya is the city of excitement, experience, and difference. Çankaya is the people's assembly established against the palace. Çankaya is the dream of an equal and free country. That dream is hidden in the streets, parks, campuses, and avenues of Çankaya, and most importantly, in the hearts of the people of Çankaya. Neither our hearts nor our minds could bear leaving the people to helplessness and a lack of options. It is with this awareness that we set out. Now is the time not to see what we can do to protect a municipality, but to see what a municipality can do for us. Come, let us speak a brand new language together in ÇANKAYA, the home of the Republic. Let us erase the language of rent-seeking, incompetence, cronyism, and discrimination. In the name of solidarity, in the name of equality, let us create a real, not symbolic, change. We can succeed in Çankaya. WE ARE STARTING."

İrfan Değirmenci had previously been a TİP parliamentary candidate for İzmir, but was not elected.
