The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) announced on the social media platform X that it has withdrawn Gökhan Zan's candidacy in Hatay.

The full statement, which said, "Various allegations have reached us regarding Gökhan Zan entering into relationships that our party would never approve of. Gökhan Zan has informed our party that the allegations in question are a setup against him and that he will initiate legal proceedings," is as follows:

"Dear citizens,

Following the nomination of the current mayor Lütfü Savaş, who is also responsible for the earthquake disaster, as the Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate in Hatay by the AKP—the party responsible for the great destruction our country has experienced—despite all the objections of the people of Hatay, we, as the Workers' Party of Turkey, declared that we would not leave the people of Hatay without options and took initiatives for the Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidacy. As a result of these initiatives, and with the initiative of various representatives and prominent opinion leaders of the people of Hatay, former national football player and Hatay-based sports figure Gökhan Zan, known for his dedicated work during the earthquake days, became the name proposed with a common will. Our party stated that it respected this will, which was called the 'Hatay alliance,' and gave the candidacy spot to Gökhan Zan, who is not a member of our party.

As the Workers' Party of Turkey, we reiterate that forcing the people of Hatay to choose between two earthquake-responsible figures and imposing Lütfü Savaş as the CHP candidate is an irreparable shame and an insult to the grieving people of Hatay. However, various allegations have reached us regarding Gökhan Zan, the common candidate proposed by the Hatay Alliance, entering into relationships that our party would never approve of. Gökhan Zan has informed our party that the allegations in question are a setup against him and that he will initiate legal proceedings. However, even though the process will be taken to legal authorities, we remind you that we will not turn a blind eye to even the slightest suspicion and that we maintain our unbridgeable distance from the establishment politics that has made methods like setups and blackmail a habit, and we announce to the public that we are withdrawing Gökhan Zan's candidacy.

The Workers' Party of Turkey conducts its struggle only and solely with the power of the people, in line with the interests of the people, and with the aim of strengthening the voice of the people. The Workers' Party of Turkey takes every decision it makes in its authorized bodies and implements them through its bodies. The Workers' Party of Turkey has never established a bargaining relationship with any political group or party until now, and it will not do so in the future. As the Workers' Party of Turkey, which insists on clean, honest, and transparent politics in a country where politics is conducted through dirty bargains, setups, and blackmail, we will show maximum sensitivity, as we have done until today, so that no shadow falls on our principles.

We announce our decision to all the laborers of Turkey whose hearts beat for TİP, especially the people of Hatay, and we apologize for this picture that we are a part of, even if unintentionally.

Our party considers it a duty not to support anyone involved in a crime committed against the people, and therefore to fight against the government and main opposition candidates who have a share in the earthquake crimes and destruction in Hatay, and to call on our people not to vote for them.

We will persist in our struggle, our dignity, and our principles.

The Workers' Party of Turkey will continue its march with an identity that is unbargaining, uncompromising, and completely distant from the dirty and corrupt relationships of establishment politics, as it has done until now."

Gökhan Zan, who was withdrawn from candidacy by the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), made the following statement on the social media platform X:

"My Dear People,

When I set out on this path with you, I said that I would never give up, that I would not abandon the struggle, and that I would not take a step back even if they put obstacles in our way.

Those who want to maintain the reign they established by exploiting the resources and preferences of our people have been uncomfortable with our candidacy since the first day.

When I did not bow to their threats and blackmail, this time they resorted to the FETÖ-style methods and montages they know best.

But this time they hit a hard rock and they will be defeated by the fighting spirit and determination of you, my dear fellow citizens, whose support I have always felt by my side.

I will continue on my path and my candidacy with my people in a more determined and stronger way. Despite the dark forces, hired gangs, and pens for sale, we will see beautiful days..."
