TKP decides to support TİP candidate! 'We will not be chasing petty agendas'

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has decided to support Emrah Karaçay, the candidate of the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), in the Samandağ district of Hatay. In a statement released by the TKP, it was stated, "We will not be chasing petty agendas."

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has announced that they have decided to support Emrah Karaçay, the Workers' Party of Turkey's (TİP) mayoral candidate in the Samandağ district of Hatay.

In a statement made on the social media account of the TKP Hatay Provincial Organization, it was stated: "We will not be chasing petty agendas; in these extraordinary conditions, we will act with the awareness of the responsibility that falls upon us to change the mentality that left the people of Samandağ alone and helpless."

The statement included the following expressions:

"During the earthquake process, we made an effort to grow solidarity and organize in many regions of our Hatay with the motto 'Hatay is rising up.' We tried to be in every district and every neighborhood as much as our strength allowed. During the earthquake process, local administrations that saw the people's votes as a sure thing, as much as the AKP government, left our people alone and helpless. In this direction, the TKP has embarked on an intensive effort to settle accounts with this mentality and to change it, especially in Defne. Our priority is the change of a mentality and the rising of our Hatay through solidarity. In this direction, in our evaluation with our prospective candidates, members, and friends who applied to our party for the Samandağ Mayoralty; we determined that Mr. Emrah Karaçay, who announced his candidacy for the Samandağ Mayoralty from the Workers' Party of Turkey, and his team have been carrying out work for a long time, and that this work has found interest and response among the people of Samandağ. Due to the promise we made to our people that we would hold those responsible for the destruction caused by the earthquake to account and do our best to change this mentality, we have decided not to field a mayoral candidate in Samandağ and to support Mr. Emrah Karaçay, as a requirement of our moral and conscientious responsibility towards the people of Samandağ."
