TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan meets with Cuban leader Díaz-Canel in Havana

The TKP delegation met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel as part of an international meeting in Havana.

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) General Secretary Kemal Okuyan met with Cuban President and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Miguel Díaz-Canel in Havana, the capital of Cuba.

In addition to the TKP delegation, officials from the Communist Party of Cuba also attended the meeting. The meeting was announced by the Cuban Presidency.

In a statement following the meeting, Díaz-Canel noted that they held a "fraternal meeting" with TKP General Secretary Okuyan and his accompanying delegation.

I held a fraternal meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey, my friend Kemal Okuyan, and the delegation accompanying him to participate in the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties and the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel. I thanked them for their constant support and solidarity.

Díaz-Canel shared a message of solidarity after the meeting.

Kemal Okuyan also expressed his gratitude for the reception in Havana in a statement on his social media account, saying, "We held a productive meeting with Cuban President and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who received us in Havana, where we came for the World Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties. We owe him a debt of gratitude for this friendly meeting."

Delegations from both parties also accompanied the meeting.

THE THEME OF THE MEETING IS SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA

The TKP delegation is in Havana for the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties held this year. Hosted by the Communist Party of Cuba, the meeting carries the theme of "Defending the legacy of the Cuban Revolution on the centenary of Fidel's birth and strengthening solidarity with socialist Cuba; growing the common struggle for peace against imperialist aggression."

The 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties was held in Havana.

It was reported that over 100 delegates from 49 communist and workers' parties attended the meeting. The opening speeches were delivered by TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan and Communist Party of Cuba Political Bureau member Roberto Tomás Morales Ojeda.
