During the budget negotiations for the Ministry of Industry and Technology at the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Planning and Budget Committee, CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba directed sharp criticisms at the Minister of Industry.
Recalling that Minister of Industry Mustafa Varank had arrived in a TOGG vehicle during last year's budget negotiations, Ağbaba criticized the new Minister who arrived in a Mercedes this year.
'WHY ARE THE MINISTERS RIDING IN TOGG LIMITED?'
In his speech, Ağbaba criticized Ministry officials, who emphasize domestic and national rhetoric, for preferring foreign vehicles like Mercedes instead of riding in a TOGG, with the following words:
“Last year, Mustafa Varank arrived in a TOGG; I congratulate him. However, this year, the Minister of Industry arrived in a Mercedes. There are only three ministers who ride in a TOGG: the Minister of Energy, the Minister of Family, and the Minister of Transport. Even the President of Religious Affairs rides in an A8 but does not ride in a TOGG. It is impossible to understand this contradiction.”
During the budget negotiations, the complete absence of the TOGG, which is touted as a domestic and national vehicle, was also a target of criticism. Stating that the TOGG should not remain just a showcase for Ministry policies, Ağbaba said, “It is unacceptable for the vehicle you boast about to remain only in words.”
