Transfer rumors and MYK discontent in AKP: Local organizations are reacting

Ahead of the 24th anniversary program that the AKP will hold on August 14, new accessions are being discussed in party circles. It is stated that Sakarya MP Ümit Dikbayır, who joined the CHP after leaving the IYI Party and later resigned from the CHP to remain independent, and IYI Party Gaziantep MP Mehmet Mustafa Gürban may join the AKP during the program.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, it is stated in the corridors that not only MP transfers but also some mayors elected from different parties could wear the AKP badge at the same ceremony. While it is assessed that the party leadership wants to turn the anniversary into a political show with new accessions, this process has also brought different discussions within the party.

While AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has recently accelerated the transfer traffic for MPs and mayors, it was noted that this strategy aims to increase the number of seats in Parliament and expand the AKP's influence in local governments.

MYK REACTION WITHIN THE PARTY

However, the appointment of some names coming from different parties to important positions in a short time has caused discomfort in the party organizations. In particular, the assignment of some MPs who joined the AKP later to the Central Executive Board (MYK) has become a subject of criticism among cadres who have worked within the party for many years.

According to party sources, the discomfort stems not from a principled opposition to the transfers, but from the belief that names who have served in the organizations for years are being left in the background. It is stated that assessments such as "While people who have given years of effort to the party are waiting, it bothers the organization that names who arrived yesterday find a place in the management" are being made in the corridors.

It is stated that similar criticisms are also being voiced for mayoral transfers. While the AKP leadership, which wants to increase its power in local governments, is expected to continue these steps, it is commented that the organizations are having difficulty explaining the process in question to the grassroots.

For this reason, the August 14 program is being watched not only as an anniversary celebration but also as an organization where new political accessions could be announced. Within the party, it is assessed that while transfer politics may provide numerical strength in the short term, it could create new tensions in terms of organizational motivation.
