TRNC's new President Tufan Erhürman gives his first message
The first message has arrived from Tufan Erhürman, who won the TRNC presidential election. Erhürman stated that they will work in close cooperation with Turkey on foreign policy.

According to unofficial results in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) presidential election, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman has won. Supreme Election Council (YSK) Chairman Bertan Özerdağ announced that Erhürman was elected President by receiving 62.76 percent of the votes. Independent candidate Ersin Tatar received 35.81 percent of the votes. The voter turnout in the election was recorded at 64.87 percent.
LARGE MARGIN IN THE ELECTION
In the first round of the presidential election, Tufan Erhürman won by a large margin, while Ersin Tatar, who also had the support of the AKP, suffered a major defeat. Before the election, President Erdoğan and the AKP government had repeatedly expressed their support for Tatar. Most recently, Cübbeli Ahmet had also prayed for Tatar to win.
"CLOSE COOPERATION WILL BE CONDUCTED WITH TURKEY"
Making his first statement following the election results, Tufan Erhürman emphasized that they would be in close cooperation with Turkey regarding foreign policy. Erhürman said, "Foreign policy will of course be conducted in close consultation with Turkey; let no one have any doubts about this."
