On August 20, Trump had demanded Cook's resignation in a post on the Truth Social platform, citing a report published by Bloomberg. The report stated that Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte had requested that Attorney General Pam Bondi open an investigation into Cook. In that post, Trump had said, "Cook must resign immediately."
