DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan reacted to the images that emerged during the transfer to the courthouse of 36 individuals, including 5 mayors, who were detained in the recent operation against CHP-run municipalities.

Sharing on his X account, Bakırhan stated, "The ongoing political operations against elected CHP officials are straining the fault lines in Turkey and increasing polarization, causing great harm to the vision of a common future."

Reacting to the courthouse images, Bakırhan said, "The circulation of photos of elected officials being transferred to court in a single file, reminiscent of the September 12 trials and the KCK political genocide operations, is a sign of political helplessness and lawlessness."

Bakırhan continued as follows:

"We will continue to stand against injustice and lawlessness, no matter who it is directed at. Our political history is a history of standing against injustices.

The right side of history is not about taking the side of this or that party. Being on the right side of history means standing uncompromisingly on the side of law, democracy, and peace. Our place and our home are peace, democracy, and the rule of law.

The politicization of the judiciary is a major threat to this country. This must be abandoned. The judicial stick used against politics must come to an end."
