DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan made assessments regarding the current agenda at his party's parliamentary group meeting.

Bakırhan began his speech by commemorating Deniz Poyraz, who was murdered in an attack on the party's İzmir Provincial Organization building 4 years ago today. "We will not forget this cowardly attack, and we will follow this process until we expose those who carried out the attack and the dark forces behind it. Even if 40 years pass, not 4, we will do everything to shed light on this process," he said.

Speaking about Israel's attacks on Iran and Iran's retaliations, Bakırhan stated, "While stability has not yet been achieved in Syria, we have seen the zero point of humanity in Gaza. While our hearts beat in Gaza, the Middle East's sharpest fault line has broken. With the Israel-Iran war that began on June 13, the fate of the region has reached a point where it could almost change fundamentally."

Bakırhan assessed, "If this war grows, it could lead to massive geopolitical ruptures in the region. We could witness a process far exceeding the migration and deaths in Syria. The region could enter a long-term process of chaos, crisis, and conflict."

''THESE CONFLICTS MUST END IMMEDIATELY''

Calling on the parties to come to the negotiating table, Bakırhan said:

"The Middle East could experience the greatest political and social earthquake in its history! These conflicts, which benefit not a single Persian, Arab, Turk, Kurd, or Jew, must end immediately. As the DEM Party, we know that these conflicts will deepen the problems. For this reason, we call on everyone to establish dialogue and call on the parties to the negotiating table. Neither Iran nor Israel should see this war as a test of their own historical missions or ideological legitimacy."

Emphasizing that the Middle East is changing rapidly, Bakırhan called out, "Everything that was said to be impossible is happening, regimes that were said to be indestructible are collapsing within hours. While the rhythm of chaos in the Middle East is rising, we must raise the rhythm of peace and solution in Turkey together. As a ring of fire surrounds our country, it is not right to lean on adventurous scenarios. Ensuring the internal peace of the peoples of Turkey is the safest path."

''THE PRESCRIPTION IS CLEAR...''

Stating, "More democracy, justice, and freedom is our only password," Bakırhan continued: "How can Turkey survive these storms? The prescription is clear and obvious: Turkey can be protected from these storms by ensuring a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and by building a democratic republic."

Recalling PKK leader Öcalan's "democratic confederalism" proposal, Bakırhan argued that this could bring peace and stability. Bakırhan said, "Security is not in the Iron Dome or hypersonic missiles; security is in peace, in tranquility, in democracy. The solution is in a democratic Middle East union where everyone lives without limits, without exploitation, and in justice. The solution is in a democratic republic where the law is distributed fairly and democracy is strong. The solution is in the idea of a democratic nation where identities live together equally and freely."
