Turkey's youngest female mayor elected in Çanakkale
Independent candidate Zeynep Çelik has won the election in the town of Kalkım, located in the Yenice district of Çanakkale, according to unofficial results, becoming mayor. Çelik has earned the title of Turkey's youngest female mayor.

22-year-old Zeynep Çelik, the daughter of well-known Yenice businessperson Mehmet Çelik, entered the Local Administration Elections as an independent candidate.
Winning the election, Zeynep Çelik became the Mayor of Kalkım according to unofficial results. With this outcome, Çelik earned the title of Turkey's youngest female mayor.
Zeynep Çelik, who will serve as the Mayor of Kalkım for the next 5 years, stated, "I would like to thank you very much for not withholding your support on this path of service that we have embarked upon with our collective efforts and prayers. I will consider it my duty every day for the next 5 years to bring services worthy of Kalkım and to value our people, and I will strive to be worthy of you. This success belongs to all of us."
