Two-week budget marathon begins in the Turkish Parliament
The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will work non-stop for two weeks on the 2026 budget. The deliberations will begin tomorrow and conclude on December 21.

A busy schedule begins this week at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) for the 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal. Following the conclusion of deliberations in the Planning and Budget Committee on December 1, the budget is moving to the General Assembly agenda after a one-week break. The deliberations will begin tomorrow and continue uninterrupted until December 21, including weekends.
The initial deliberations on the budget as a whole will take place tomorrow. The budgets and final accounts of public administrations will be addressed in nine rounds. The General Assembly will convene at 12:00 on the first and last day of the budget sessions, and at 11:00 on other days.
DELIBERATION SCHEDULE BEGINS
Deliberations on the 2026 budget in the General Assembly will begin on Tuesday, December 9, with sessions covering the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and high judicial bodies. On Wednesday, the budgets of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Trade will be addressed. On Thursday, the budgets of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and several affiliated institutions will be debated.
The schedule will continue on Friday with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and related culture and arts institutions. Work will continue over the weekend; on Saturday, the budgets of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will be discussed, while on Sunday, the budgets of the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of National Education will be on the table.
On the following Monday, the budgets of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will be deliberated. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will be addressed. On Wednesday, the budgets of top-level institutions such as the Presidency, the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the National Security Council (MGK), and the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) will be evaluated.
VOTING BEGINS ON DECEMBER 18
The first 8 articles of the budget law proposal will be voted on Thursday, December 18. In the session on Friday, December 19, the remaining 7 articles will be deliberated and put to a vote. On December 20, the unvoted articles of the 2024 Final Account Law Proposal will be decided upon.
FINAL DAY IS DECEMBER 21
Following approximately two weeks of intensive work, the final speeches on the budget as a whole will be made on Sunday, December 21. The 2026 budget deliberations will then be concluded with the subsequent vote.
