The İsmailağa Community cleric claimed that Mahmut Ustaosmanoğlu had an impact on the Cyprus victory, saying, "The Beşparmak Mountains could not be crossed. Mahmut Efendi said, 'Leave me alone for half an hour,' and then he came out, drenched in sweat. Five minutes later, an announcement on the radio said, 'The Beşparmak Mountains have been crossed.'"
