Ahead of the local elections to be held at the end of March, candidates continue to tour openings and make statements.

Among the candidates listing their election promises to citizens, Murat Kurum drew attention with his statement on Gaza.

AKP's Istanbul mayoral candidate Murat Kurum stated that if he is elected, the oppressed in Gaza will rejoice. One of the figures who reacted to this statement by Kurum was Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ.

In a post on his social media account, Özdağ quoted Kurum's speech and added the following note:

"Murat Kurum, stop this exploitation of Gaza. You cannot trade with Israel, make money, and then spend the taxes of the people of Istanbul on Gaza. If you are going to provide aid to Gaza, do it by deducting it from the profits of the AK Party-affiliated companies that trade with Israel. You have stifled the retirees and the low-income earners."
