Ümit Özdağ writes a letter from Silivri: 'They are holding me with a political decision'

Zafer Party Chairman Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ sent a letter to Saygı Öztürk from Silivri Prison, where he is being held, to describe his experiences. Stating that the conditions in the prison are well-organized but that justice is lacking, Özdağ included the following statements in his letter:

"Is Silivri cold? Yes, very cold. However, the prison is orderly, and the staff perform their duties professionally. There is hot water 24 hours a day, the food is not bad, and many things can be obtained from the canteen. However, there is no justice or freedom in the canteen. Our situation resembles that of Black Americans living in the southern states of the US in the 1960s. Our constitutional and legal rights have been suspended.

'THEY ARE HOLDING ME WITH A POLITICAL DECISION'

Because I am innocent, I do not expect anything from justice. They are holding me here with a political decision. I do not trust any person, institution, or office other than the Turkish Nation, to whom I am bound with infinite love. The verdict belongs to politics, but justice belongs to God."
