Urgent release request for Murat Çalık

Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested on March 23 as part of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and is currently held at the İzmir Closed Penal Execution Institution, underwent surgery yesterday at the İzmir Katip Çelebi Training and Research Hospital due to a mass detected in his neck.

CHP member Çağla Biçer announced a new development regarding Çalık's health status and the release process to the public.

In a statement on her social media account, Biçer stated that she had consulted with Çalık's lawyers and that evaluations regarding his health status following the surgery and the removal of the mass had been submitted to the case file.

The statement shared the information that, in this context, documents regarding an urgent release request had been uploaded to the relevant file by his lawyers.

Biçer's statement included the following: "I have consulted with the lawyers of our Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık to closely monitor the process regarding his health status. During the meeting, I was informed that evaluations regarding his health status following the surgery he underwent and the mass that was removed have been submitted to the file, and that in this context, documents regarding an urgent release request have been uploaded to the relevant file by his lawyers. It was stated that the process is being conducted meticulously in terms of both legal and health aspects, that the necessary applications have been made, and that developments are being followed through official channels.
