Üsküdar Municipality reclaims building previously allocated to Ensar Foundation for free

In June 2024, Üsküdar Municipality decided to cancel the free allocation of real estate to certain associations and foundations. Within this scope, the building in İcadiye Neighborhood, which had been allocated to the Ensar Foundation and used as a student dormitory, was among the properties for which the allocation was revoked. The lawsuit filed by the foundation against the municipality's cancellation was rejected by the administrative court, and the building was vacated and taken over by the municipality.

LEGAL PROCESS AND COURT OF ACCOUNTS REPORT

The Court of Accounts' audit report on Üsküdar Municipality had determined that municipal properties were being allocated to certain foundations and associations free of charge through cooperation protocols.

According to the Municipal Law, municipalities cannot allocate their real estate to foundations and associations free of charge, except for public institutions. A legal cancellation process was initiated regarding the allocations made in the previous term, and the building allocated to the Ensar Foundation was reclaimed.

INSPECTION BY SİNEM DEDETAŞ

After the building was vacated, Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş conducted an inspection of the premises alongside deputy mayors, lawyers, and other relevant officials.

Regarding how the structure will be used, Dedetaş stated, "Looking from the outside is very different from seeing the inside. This is not a place that should be used as a dormitory. As someone who has stayed in dormitories myself, my opinion changed completely once I went inside. We need to quickly determine a function for it, and this space will be put to use for the benefit of our neighborhood."
