Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz's assessment on Syria: 'Turkish, Kurdish, Arab brotherhood...'

Following the long-standing instability and conflicts in Syria, an agreement aiming for full integration between the Damascus administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has been announced. Following the latest development, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made a statement on the matter via his social media account.

In the statement, it was noted that this step taken toward restoring Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty is important not only for the Syrian people but also for regional peace and economic prosperity. In his post, Yılmaz stated that it is hoped the process will be carried out with determination by the parties and that the externally dependent structures that weaken the central authority will be brought to an end.

Referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks on the power of unity, the following statements stood out in Yılmaz's message:

"The Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement announced in Syria is a promising development for the future, and we will closely follow the process regarding the implementation of the agreement's provisions.

We hope that the parties will abide by their commitments in the coming period to bring stability to the process, and that the structures created with external support during the period of central authority vacuum will come to an end.

A Syria that is restructured with an understanding that consolidates its territorial integrity and sovereignty and integrates all its elements is extremely valuable for regional stability and prosperity, just as it is for the benefit of the Syrian people who have suffered great pain. With the implementation of the reached agreement, trade, oil, and other resources will be used for Syria's development, not for its destabilization.

As the Republic of Turkey, we will continue to support steps that strengthen the central authority with an understanding that encompasses all ethnic, sectarian, and religious groups of the brotherly Syrian people.

Turkish, Kurdish, and Arab brotherhood is the strongest response to those who have different agendas regarding Syria and who fuel conflict instead of stability."

In his social media post, Yılmaz also emphasized that these steps taken are of close concern not only to the different groups in Syria but to all dynamics affecting the region.
