Academic who posted 'Reis' content signed off on diploma cancellation! CHP releases 'diploma cancellation' video

Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik shared a video on his social media account with the note "Let's talk about the facts."

The video provided information regarding İmamoğlu's canceled diploma.

The video stated that the diploma, which was obtained 35 years ago, was canceled despite the fact that the advertisement placed in the newspaper was official and the transcript was available.

It was reported that while the university administration claimed that İmamoğlu did not meet the requirements for his lateral transfer, the official announcement dated July 30, 1990, clearly stated the requirements, and that İmamoğlu had met all the conditions to study and graduate.

The video explained that the Constitutional Court's provision stating 'If 60 days have passed since the diploma was issued, it cannot be revoked' was ignored. It also drew attention to the fact that the decision to cancel the diploma was not made by legal experts, but by a commission established with an economist, an oncology specialist, and a conservatory professor.

It was stated that Istanbul University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Levent Şahin was among the signatories regarding the cancellation of the diploma.

Şahin's social media posts, in which he used the term "reis" (chief/leader) when referring to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, were also recalled.
