Bilden began his campaign for the March 31 local elections recently and held his first meeting with party organization members.
Following the meetings, the AKP's Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate, Mehmet Halis Bilden, wanted to mingle with citizens and made headlines due to a dialogue he had with a child selling simits on the street.
While chatting with citizens, Bilden handed 100 TL to a child vendor who approached him and asked the child to distribute the simits on his tray.
Upon seeing that Bilden had handed him 100 TL, the child replied, "You can't get simits for this much money."
Bilden, whose brief moment of confusion was visible on his face, tried to brush off the child's reaction by saying, "You don't like it, huh?"
