Ali Mahir Başarır challenges Erdoğan: 'İmamoğlu would win by 15 points even while campaigning from his cell'

The CHP, which emerged as the leading party in the local elections and plans to call for early elections through rallies across the country, continues to urge AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan to head to the ballot box.

The latest call came from CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır.

During a live broadcast, Başarır claimed that in an electoral race between İmamoğlu and Erdoğan, İmamoğlu would win the election by a 15-point margin, even while conducting his campaign from his prison cell.

Ali Mahir Başarır stated the following:

"The gap is currently 8 points. As a politician who follows the streets and observes the reactions of citizens, I say that by the end of April, the gap will exceed 10 points.

This gap will widen because people's situation is very bad, the economy is very bad; the hunger threshold is at an optimistic 23 thousand liras... The pension is 14 thousand liras, the minimum wage is 22 thousand liras, and millions are forced to live on this.

There is real misery and hunger in Turkey. There is a crisis, and only the ballot box and an election can clear this. We are the leading party in the latest elections, and the gap is widening in the polls! 

According to polls, nearly 70 percent of Turkey wants an early election. Erdoğan should not resist and should bring the ballot box; let me say something clearly: the administrative court will most likely issue a stay of execution regarding the diploma issue, you will see. 

After that, Mr. Ekrem will campaign from prison while he [Erdoğan] uses all the state's resources; let him call for an election immediately and he will lose by 15 points! 

He will campaign from his 20-square-meter cell in Silivri, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will again campaign with all the state's resources, and he will lose by 15 points! The country must experience an election; only an election can clear this coup and these injustices."
