Bahçeli to support NATO membership for Sweden, despite comparing it to Qandil Mountain

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli answered journalists' questions following his party's group meeting. While making statements regarding Sweden's NATO membership, his announcement that he would provide support brought to mind his statement from 6 months ago.

The MHP Chairman had said in July, "Sweden is the PKK's cave in Europe. Stockholm is the same as Qandil Mountain." This time, Devlet Bahçeli stated that they would vote in favor of Sweden's NATO membership during the deliberations to be held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Bahçeli said the following:

During the discussions in the commission, our Nationalist Movement Party member colleagues provided support to Sweden with an approach identical to the stance put forward by the Presidential government system and administration. This support will also be valid in the General Assembly.

HE HAD SAID "SWEDEN IS THE PKK'S CAVE IN EUROPE"

Bahçeli had previously said in a group meeting, "How can we turn a blind eye to such helplessness? Sweden is the PKK's cave in Europe. Stockholm is the same as Qandil Mountain."

Bahçeli's statement was as follows:

How are we going to meet within the same security architecture with a certain country that directly threatens our national existence, embraces bloody terrorist organizations, and turns a blind eye to their recruitment of terrorists and collection of extortion money in its own capital?

How are we going to turn a blind eye to such helplessness?

How are we going to digest this? Are we going to say yes to humiliation just because the United States wants it, or because a finger is being wagged regarding F-16s? Sweden is the PKK's cave in Europe. Stockholm is the same as Qandil Mountain.
