CHP's Başarır reacts to 'trustee' appointment in Esenyurt: 'Would this have come out if Ahmet Özer hadn't won?'

Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee to the municipality, the CHP group moved its TBMM Group Work and Evaluation Meeting, which was planned to be held in Antalya, to Avcılar, Istanbul.

Evaluating the trustee decision and the process for 12punto, CHP Group Deputy Chairman and Mersin MP Ali Mahir Başarır made notable statements.

'IF HE HADN'T WON ESENYURT...'

Başarır said the following:

"The most important point here is that the existence of such an investigation is being mentioned. It is said that this investigation has been ongoing for over 10 years. It is claimed that there are recordings and evidence. Where was your mind? Are you putting these investigations in the freezer and keeping them until the time and place are right? Is this something that happens in a state of law? Would this have come out if Ahmet Özer hadn't become mayor? No. If he hadn't won Esenyurt, there would be no such file. You are bringing this file out because he won. Then it is a fact that those prosecutors have neglected and abused their duties."

COMMENT ON AKIN GÜRLEK

"You have been listening to this man constantly; you should have either filed a lawsuit based on the results of the wiretapping every 6 months or told him that you found no criminal element as a result of this wiretapping. You didn't do that either; it is a complete chaotic order. Everyone needs to resist this. Law and the judiciary are not powers that the AKP can use to create perceptions. The judiciary, which should be in the most distinct place among the legislative, executive, and judicial powers, is not that.

We see that Akın Gürlek is a useful chief prosecutor, deputy minister; these investigations are being carried out after he arrives in high criminal courts and criminal peace courts. We must read this well, we must all react together and resist."
