It has been two years since February 6th; the 2nd anniversary will be next month. A major earthquake occurred. The fault line leveled 10 cities. Mersin was our province closest to those cities. Mayor Vahap and our three municipalities hosted exactly 450 thousand earthquake survivors on behalf of all of us. This government did not send a single penny of additional funds to Mersin for this hospitality.
They did everything they could to obstruct services. We asked them to contribute, they refused. Support was found from abroad, but they didn't sign off on it and even prevented those funds from arriving.
I am calling out to all of Turkey from here. Look, Erdoğan says to boycott those responsible for high prices. I am adopting this call. When inflation is 80 percent and the TUIK inflation is 40 percent, against those who try to make the minimum wage earner settle for 30 percent and the pensioner for 15 percent, preventing them from even boiling a pot of soup, against those who make natural gas bills impossible to pay, against those who drag pensioners and workers down, against those who ruin farmers and lemon producers in agriculture, against those who condemn tradesmen to close their shutters without making a single sale, from now on, protest is a right.
In the March 31 elections, I said it was time to warn the government, to elect good mayors, to tell the government to 'come to your senses,' and to show a yellow card. You showed a yellow card that day, but Tayyip Bey did not understand. Did he hear your voice? Well, can one make a living with this salary he gives, with 14 thousand 500 liras? Can one make a living with this minimum wage? Then we will speak in the language he understands. Are you ready? We are starting from Mersin, and I continue to call on all pensioners, minimum wage earners, and all the oppressed across Turkey to show this government a red card.
