The CHP notified its deputies of the decision to stand up to welcome AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). After Erdoğan arrived at the TBMM General Assembly hall, it was observed that the CHP group stood up but did not applaud.

The opening of the 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) convened today under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also followed the opening, which began at 15:00.

PROTESTED DURING THE KILIÇDAROĞLU ERA

During the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu era in the CHP, deputies used to protest Erdoğan by not standing up when he entered the TBMM General Assembly hall.

CHP'S ERDOĞAN INSTRUCTION TO DEPUTIES

However, a first occurred this time. Following the steps taken by Özgür Özel after his election as CHP Chairman, such as establishing contact and holding meetings with Erdoğan under the name of "normalization," it was decided today that Erdoğan would be welcomed standing in the TBMM General Assembly.

The decision was conveyed to the deputies by CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir.

THEY STOOD UP BUT DID NOT APPLAUD

Following the opening speech by TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş, Erdoğan arrived at the TBMM General Assembly hall.

As Erdoğan walked toward the podium, it was observed that the CHP group, which had stood up, did not applaud him.

DEM PARTY DID NOT STAND UP, TİP DID NOT ATTEND THE SESSION

On the other hand, the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) did not stand up when Erdoğan arrived at the TBMM. The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), meanwhile, did not attend the session.

BARIŞ YARKADAŞ HAD WRITTEN

TV100 columnist Barış Yarkadaş, in a post on his social media account regarding the matter, reported the following about the decision:

“CHP deputies will stand up when President and AK PARTY Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan enters the TBMM General Assembly. According to the information I obtained for @tv100, this decision was communicated to the deputies by Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir. In previous terms, CHP deputies did not stand up when President Erdoğan entered the TBMM General Assembly. The deputies would stand up as Erdoğan was leaving the hall.”

 

IT WAS CLAIMED THAT SOME DEPUTIES OBJECTED

It was alleged that some deputies objected to the decision. Journalist Fatih Atik had written that some deputies might not attend the session in opposition to the CHP's decision.
