The video shared with the claim that İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu had "intimate interactions" with DEM Party Co-Chairman Tuncer Bakırhan following his speech at the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) is not current.
It has been determined that the short clip, which began circulating on social media on August 10, 2026, and received more than 350 thousand views, was recorded at the reception held at the Parliament on April 23, 2025.
The post alleged that Dervişoğlu was seen side-by-side with Bakırhan following his speech in Parliament. However, the encounter in the video took place approximately 16 months before the Bill on the Strengthening of National Solidarity and Social Integration, known in the public eye as the "framework law," came to the TBMM agenda.
FOOTAGE IS FROM THE APRIL 23 RECEPTION
The bill in question was passed in the TBMM General Assembly on August 10, 2026, with 467 votes in favor, 87 against, and 7 abstentions. The regulation includes certain legal provisions to be implemented following the disarmament of the PKK/KCK and affiliated structures and the determination that their organizational existence has ended.
The İYİ Party was among the parties that opposed the regulation during the deliberations of the bill. The party added a dissenting opinion to the Justice Commission report; the 321-page dissenting opinion prepared included the names of 7 thousand 563 martyrs.
In his speech at the General Assembly, Dervişoğlu argued that they were not against the disarmament of the organization, but that the text presented to them did not achieve this. Claiming that victims were sidelined in the proposal, Dervişoğlu announced his party's stance at the end of his speech by saying, "We will say 'no.' We will stand on the right side of history."
SOURCE OF THE VIDEO IS HALK TV AND ANKA RECORDS
An examination of the frames taken from the video revealed that the same footage was included in a video published on Halk TV's YouTube account on April 23, 2025. The video was recorded at the reception held at the Parliament for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day and the anniversary of the opening of the TBMM.
The report by ANKA News Agency, which is the source of the footage, included information about the content of the short conversation between Dervişoğlu and Bakırhan. Accordingly, when Dervişoğlu encountered Bakırhan and DEM Party Co-Chairman Tülay Hatimoğulları at the reception, he asked about the health status of TBMM Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who was receiving intensive care treatment at the time.
In the continuation of the video, Dervişoğlu is seen saying, "May God help Sırrı Bey." Therefore, the footage is not an interaction recorded after Dervişoğlu's August 10, 2026, parliamentary speech; it is part of a short conversation regarding Sırrı Süreyya Önder's health status at the April 23, 2025, reception.
There have also been harsh political debates between Dervişoğlu and Bakırhan in the past. In November 2024, Dervişoğlu had reacted harshly to Bakırhan's statements regarding Sheikh Said and Seyit Rıza during his party's group meeting.
