Erdoğan's decision to move the day he will announce his Ankara candidate from Monday, January 15, to Sunday, January 14, drew a reaction from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
Attending the Collective Opening Ceremony of the Akhisar Municipality's Saturday Market and Living Space in Manisa's Akhisar district, CHP Chairman Özel interpreted this move by Erdoğan as 'political disrespect'.
"HEY RECEP TAYYİP ERDOĞAN"
Özgür Özel made the following statements on the matter:
“Tayyip Erdoğan moved his mayoral candidate announcement, which he was going to hold on Monday, to our rally time on Sunday. His goal is for television stations to broadcast his candidates instead of our rally while we are holding it. His goal is to silence the voices of those rebelling against lawlessness and injustice.
Hey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: You cannot silence the retirees, the laborers, the workers, the civil servants, the farmers, none of us; you will hear our voice, we will make you hear this voice.
This is political disrespect, this is boorishness. This essentially shows how much he is afraid; how right you are, and how cowardly he is. We will not be afraid.
Let them obstruct us as much as they want; they cannot and will not prevent us from raising this demand and taking ownership of this country's common future. He will hear all of our voices in Tandoğan on Sunday.”
MURAT KURUM WARNED ERDOĞAN
In a statement he made today, President Erdoğan said they would announce the remaining candidates on Sunday. During this time, Istanbul candidate Murat Kurum was heard warning "Monday," to which Erdoğan replied, "No, we moved it to Sunday."
