Former Prime Minister Tansu Çiller attended the "Women Growing Istanbul" program alongside Murat Kurum, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate for the People's Alliance formed by the AKP and MHP, and Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Responding to journalists' questions at the end of the event, Çiller openly declared her support for Murat Kurum, stating, "Murat Kurum is coming to Istanbul with excitement. I believe Istanbul was looking for this excitement."
"He touched upon very important points. The most important was the earthquake. An earthquake is coming to Istanbul; one must be aware of this," said Çiller, who also criticized the current IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu without naming him, adding, "Istanbulites are losing a great deal of time in transportation; the lives of Istanbulites are slipping away. Those are hours that should not be lost."
Stating that Kurum also addressed the issue of employment, Çiller said, "That excited me a lot. Because I think our youth, especially our women, are in great need of this."
