Voting hours extended until 19:00

For the presidential primary where Ekrem İmamoğlu is the sole candidate, 5,600 ballot boxes have been set up across 81 provinces and 973 districts. Voting for members began at 08:00 in the morning and was scheduled to end at 17:00. However, a statement from the CHP announced that the voting process has been extended until 19:00.

CHP Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke provided information regarding the primary process during a press conference held at her party's headquarters. Stating that they decided to extend the time due to the intensity of participation, Böke said, "Against the lawlessness imposed upon us by the government, millions are showing a festival of democracy that is spilling into the streets in 81 provinces. This will demonstrates a very strong defense against the coup carried out against Mayor Ekrem. The public is telling us, 'We want to show our determination at these ballot boxes.' We will keep the ballot boxes open until 19:00. We call out to our people who are defending democracy. We are strong together. This ballot box is not an end, but a great beginning."

Citizens who wish to vote will be able to cast their ballots until 19:00. Those who wish to vote can check their polling locations at onsecim.chp.org.tr.

VOTING PROCESS CONTINUES

The voting process began at 08:00 and will continue until 19:00. A message was also received from the sole candidate of the election, the imprisoned Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In a post on his social media account, İmamoğlu said, "I invite all my fellow party members to the ballot box without fail. Furthermore, in addition to the ballot boxes for our party members across Turkey, ballot boxes will also be set up for all our citizens. I invite all our citizens to be a part of this great enthusiasm."
