Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was re-elected as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in the March 31 Local Elections, visited Anıtkabir.

Walking along the Lion Road with his wife Dilek İmamoğlu and CHP district mayors from Istanbul, İmamoğlu was warned while making a brief statement to the camera filming him.

Officials intervened, saying, "You need to obtain permission for this." Following the warning, İmamoğlu continued his walk.

Finally, İmamoğlu stated, "I hope we will perform our duties worthily together; we are making our traditional visit together."

NO INTERVENTION FOR ERDOĞAN SLOGANS

The officials' warning to İmamoğlu brought to mind the "Everywhere is Tayyip, everywhere is Erdoğan" slogans chanted during the Anıtkabir visits of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The fact that officials did not intervene in these slogans, which were chanted not only during national holidays but even on November 10, had previously drawn reactions.
