The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) has announced its co-mayoral candidates for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) for the local elections to be held on March 31. In the announcement made at the party headquarters, party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan revealed that the IMM co-mayoral candidates are Meral Danış Beştaş and Murat Çepni.
WHO IS MURAT ÇEPNİ?
Murat Çepni (born 1974, İkizdere, Rize) is a Turkish politician and a 27th-term HDP Member of Parliament for İzmir.
A high school graduate, Çepni did not complete his university education. He has been actively involved in politics since 2010. Between 2010 and 2016, he served as a member and executive of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP). Since 2016, he has been serving as a member of the Party Assembly (PM) of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), as well as a member of the Central Executive Committee (MYK) with the role of Deputy Co-Chair responsible for Ecology.
