Following the MHP group meeting, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli answered questions from journalists.

After the group meeting, Devlet Bahçeli became angry at journalist Hilal Köylü's question, 'Do you have a disagreement with President Erdoğan?' and scolded her.

 

'QUIT YOUR PROFESSION'

Bahçeli responded to the question by saying, 'First of all, my fellow members of the press, stop behaviors that fuel discrimination with false information that provokes Turkey. If you cannot stop, quit your profession.'

WHO IS HILAL KÖYLÜ?

Köylü, who graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Communication, completed her master's degree in Political Science and Public Administration at Middle East Technical University.

Throughout her journalism career, she has followed high-level statesmen both domestically and internationally.

Specializing particularly in US and Middle East relations, Hilal Köylü currently writes for Serbestiyet and presents programs on Serbest TV, which broadcasts on the YouTube platform.

She began her journalism career on October 13, 1996, at Radikal Newspaper. Köylü, who covered education, health, culture, environment, and youth news at this newspaper, served as a foreign policy reporter at Radikal between 2002 and 2003.

During this period, working as an accredited reporter at the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hilal Köylü worked for media organizations such as Habertürk TV, Deutsche Welle, 24 Saat Newspaper, and Anka after Radikal Newspaper.

HILAL KÖYLÜ SPEAKS OUT: 'THIS IS THE JOURNALIST'S DUTY'

Hilal Köylü was a guest on Haber Masası, hosted by Buket Güler on Halk TV. Köylü described what she experienced as follows:

"I am just doing my job. Everyone knows this. In democracies, journalists have only one duty. It is to present and ask all the questions that the public is curious about, thinking about regarding the agenda, and questioning, to all political party leaders as a journalist.

This is the journalist's duty. Journalists work on behalf of the public. They are not representatives of any party or any politician. That is why there has been a lot of debate in Turkey about whether journalists are doing their jobs or not. But I must also say that there are journalists who can ask those questions with courage."

'I ASK QUESTIONS TO EVERYONE'

"I didn't just do this today. I always do it. Whenever I find the opportunity, whenever I catch any politician, I ask the questions on the public's agenda. Devlet Bahçeli is also the leader of a party that is in power, a partner in the government, and sets the agenda. What he says has been very important in recent days. We have been discussing this for days. We are talking about this resolution process or a new opening. Does the state or the government have a new plan regarding whether the terror problem or the Kurdish problem will end or not? Is it within a new plan or program? President Erdoğan maintains his silence on this issue. He says, 'We will continue the fight against terror without compromise.'"

'BAHÇELİ IS VERY ANGRY'

"He is extremely angry at the allegations that there is a disagreement. He expresses this anger. He also tells his close circle that the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) is not an electoral alliance. And he says, 'We are acting together to end terror, just as we do on every issue.' That is why he expresses the allegations he sees as wrong, which he finds wrong, in his own style.

His being angry and furious here is due to these allegations being constantly brought to the agenda, and of course, President Erdoğan preferred not to send a message through Öcalan. That is also President Erdoğan's discretion. Erdoğan called Bahçeli 'a leader who charts a course for history.' He said, 'He is one of the pioneering leaders of history.'

There is a closeness between them, but there is incredible brain-racking over what they talked about, what they think, and what they are discussing regarding this Öcalan issue, regarding Öcalan coming to Parliament and speaking. Incredible conspiracy theories are flying around in Ankara. He is angry at these too. Everything reaches his ears. He has close aides who say he notes them all down one by one. Perhaps he saw fit to explode like this today, to scold like this today, and he also wanted to close the subject. That is all."
