Who stands where on the Öcalan call and the Esenyurt incident? He explains 'Öcalan's position'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party members following the start of the new legislative year has been met with continued, overt support from pro-government media at every opportunity.

Following Bahçeli's call regarding Öcalan and the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality, Hürriyet Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan wrote about the positions of politicians in the process.

'IF THE NATIONALIST WIND DOES NOT BLOW...'

While Hakan stated for President Erdoğan, "The method he found for a solution is this: To address our Kurdish citizens directly, without accepting any intermediaries," he defined the positions of other politicians as follows:

Bahçeli: No new, conventional-breaking move is expected from him anymore.

Özel: He was in agreement with the government regarding a “solution-oriented perspective.” But the Esenyurt incident shattered this perspective.

Dervişoğlu: He immediately began to swing the rope he took in his hand. He also succeeded in making it to the agenda. However, this was a kingdom that lasted only a few days. Once the Öcalan issue left the agenda, he returned to his old position. In other words, a great enthusiasm was left unfulfilled.

Yavaş: If the nationalist wind does not blow, his job within the party is very difficult.

İmamoğlu: He believes the Esenyurt incident is about him and is trying to convince everyone of this.

Hakan also wrote about the position of PKK leader Öcalan. 

Hakan said the following:

Eyes had turned to him once again.

Once again, there was an expectation that he would play a historical role in “ending the organization.”

But it was understood that:

Qandil does not listen to him, and will not listen.

Result: Frustration again, frustration again.

Do I need to say that he feels deep anger toward those in Qandil?

'NOT PRO-ÖCALAN, BUT PRO-QANDIL'

If they were forced to make a choice between Öcalan and Qandil...

Which one would they choose?

Öcalan? Or Qandil?

Bahçeli's calls directed at Öcalan caused the answer to this question to emerge.

It was seen that DEM's choice would be Qandil.

Following the Esenyurt incident, however...

They have become aligned with the CHP in domestic politics.
