Abdollahian stated that the visit was postponed due to the invitation of the foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey to the UN Security Council meeting on Gaza.

In his statement on the matter, Abdollahian said, "Raisi's official visit to Ankara was supposed to take place, but the UN Security Council meeting regarding the situation in Gaza and the invitation of the foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey caused the visit to be postponed. The presidents of the two countries agreed in a phone call to delay this visit by a few days and to prioritize the UN Security Council meeting."

Furthermore, in his statement regarding the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Iranian Foreign Minister Abdollahian expressed that they are in contact and holding consultations with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is acting as a mediator in the hostage exchange.

During the call, Erdoğan expressed "the importance of the Islamic world, especially Turkey and Iran, adopting a common stance against the Israeli brutality in Palestinian territories," and stated that Iran and Turkey would continue to work to make the temporary ceasefire permanent.
