Will Cemal Enginyurt and Salih Uzun resign from the DP? Decision to be announced tomorrow

Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt and Izmir Deputy Salih Uzun, who did not attend the DP's 15th Ordinary Congress held today, made a statement regarding the claims that they would resign from the party.

Speaking to ANKA, Cemal Enginyurt said, "No, I have not resigned. It is a lobby rumor. We will see after tomorrow, hopefully," while Salih Uzun stated, "We have not resigned yet. We will evaluate it tomorrow and make a decision accordingly. We will look at it together with Mr. Cemal and evaluate it with other colleagues as well."

'IT IS A MATTER OF UNDERSTANDING, NOT A CALENDAR'

In a joint statement they made a few days ago, Enginyurt and Uzun stated that the decision for the congress was made as a "fait accompli" and said, "Although we have repeatedly stated that the upcoming congress should be reconsidered in a way that could provide a lifeline to our party and the opposition in our country, and that for this reason the congress date should be changed, our request has been persistently ignored. The party management and boards to be formed with such an approach will be detached from the historical mission and obligations that the Democrat Party must carry from the very beginning. The issue is undoubtedly not a matter of a calendar, but a matter of understanding. Consequently, we would like to respectfully inform the public and the Democrat Party community in advance that we will not be candidates for any board membership in the upcoming congress and will not take any role in the party management to be formed with this approach."
