Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) Chairman Erkan Baş stated at a press conference held in Parliament that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had requested a meeting with him due to the appointment of trustees. Baş said that they could not respond positively to him due to his programs in Bartın and Mardin.

SHARP REACTION TO TRUSTEES

Addressing the removal of the mayors of Esenyurt, Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti from office, Baş reacted by asking, "Is there no public will in Mardin, Esenyurt, Batman, or Halfeti?" Stating that the law has no meaning in this matter, Baş said, "This problem is no longer legal, it is political."

Referring to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for support for President Erdoğan at the TBMM Group Meeting, Baş said, "Bahçeli states that Erdoğan should be president again. We, on the other hand, believe that those who have remained outside of politics until today must intervene in this course of events."

THIS IS WHY WE LOST THE 2023 ELECTIONS

Criticizing some of the opposition parties' attitudes regarding the appointment of trustees to municipalities, Baş said, "We lost in the last election precisely because of such personal calculations. The government is trying to set the game, and the only thing to do against this is to reject the playing field they have determined."

WILL THERE BE A MEETING WITH İMAMOĞLU?

Responding to a journalist's question about whether he had a meeting with Ekrem İmamoğlu, Baş stated that İmamoğlu had requested an appointment for Tuesday, but they could not accommodate this request due to existing programs.
