Will Koray Aydın and 14 İYİ Party deputies join the Democrat Party? First comment from Gültekin Uysal
Following the March 31 local elections and the subsequent Extraordinary Congress called by former İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, the winds of change in the İYİ Party have intensified with claims that Koray Aydın and 14 İYİ Party deputies will join the Democrat Party. Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal has finally responded to the allegations.

Former İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener's meeting with President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan led to claims that Koray Aydın and a group of İYİ Party members, who stated that she had "brought shame upon party members," would resign from the party.
While some claim that Aydın and his colleagues will remain independent after their resignation, others allege that they will join the Democrat Party.
'TURKEY NEEDS A CENTER-RIGHT'
DP Chairman Gültekin Uysal made a statement regarding the claims in question.
Speaking to Emin Özgönül from Sözcü, Uysal said, "Turkey needs a center-right. It is natural for political parties to open their doors to formations that adopt their own views. There are no requests or contacts reaching us. If a request is made, it will be evaluated."
