Will Muharrem İnce return to the CHP? He breaks his silence

Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce will hold a meeting with the Party Assembly on Sunday (November 19) as the local elections approach. While discussions regarding alliances for the local elections continue within the opposition, there is curiosity about what İnce's stance will be.

It has been learned that in the speech he will deliver at the Party Assembly meeting, İnce will say, “Our doors are open to those who want to engage in principled cooperation in the elections.”

WILL HE FORM AN ALLIANCE?

Speaking to Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, İnce stated that they would enter the local elections as the Memleket Party alone, adding, “But I don't know who will want to form an alliance with us. We will see that. If they want to form an alliance, of course, we are open to 'principled alliances.' We are open to principled alliances, not alliances of convenience,” he said.

İnce continued his remarks as follows;

“Let's see if the CHP will take this election seriously; will they strive to bring together Republicans, Atatürkists, and patriots to win the election? Or will they just boost each other's morale and say, 'We are winning with 60, 70 percent. We are taking the metropolitan municipalities, and we are taking the smaller cities too'? Will they tell the fairy tale of 'We are winning with 60, 70 percent' on certain partisan channels? We will all see this together.

As the Memleket Party, we are a party that has been treated unfairly. We tried to explain our concerns in the last presidential election. But we couldn't explain them. I mean, we said, 'Giving 39 parliamentary seats to parties other than the CHP is a big mistake.' We said these things all along. We said, 'Ali Babacan and Ahmet Davutoğlu have no votes.' But we couldn't explain it.

I told presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 'Let IYI Party leader Meral Akşener be the Vice President, I don't want anything, let us support you.' I mean, I suggested that one person should be the vice president. 7 vice presidents do not inspire confidence in people. They made a mistake, they did it wrong.”

“THE 2019 ELECTION WAS EASIER”

Emphasizing that the 2024 local elections are more difficult than those in 2019, İnce stated, “It is harder for the CHP to win the metropolitan municipalities than it was in the 2019 elections. It was easier to win the 2019 elections. Look, we repeat, conditions today are more difficult than the situation in 2019. Yes, the economy is worse today than in 2019, but winning an election is harder. If you ask why; because the government has gained a psychological advantage. It won the presidency, it won the parliamentary majority. There is a psychological advantage. It is heading into the election with that advantage.”

WILL HE RETURN TO THE CHP? HAS AN OFFER COME FROM THE CHP?

Following the change in leadership within the Republican People's Party (CHP), rumors that Muharrem İnce will close his party and return to the CHP have not left the political agenda.

Breaking his silence on the subject, İnce said the following;

“I have no intention of joining the CHP, nor is there any such offer,” said İnce, adding, “I am currently the chairman of the Memleket Party. This party also has authorized bodies. Whatever decision we make, we will make it in our authorized bodies. Our agenda on Sunday will be how we will enter the local elections. We will discuss how we will enter the elections. As the Memleket Party, we will make our decision as if we are entering the election alone.”
