Following the Constitutional Court's (AYM) ruling on Can Atalay, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş called for an extraordinary session of the Parliament on Friday, August 16, to address the Can Atalay agenda.
After the decision, whether the AKP and MHP would attend the meeting became a subject of curiosity.
WILL THE AKP AND MHP ATTEND?
According to a report in Sözcü, AKP sources stated that they have decided to attend the session in question.
It had also come to the agenda that the decision to participate in the session was discussed yesterday at the Central Executive Board meeting held at the AKP Headquarters, chaired by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik had previously said regarding the extraordinary session to be held in the TBMM for Can Atalay, "Our Parliament Speaker has made a call. We, as the AK Party, will discuss and evaluate this issue this evening and tomorrow. I will share our stance as a result of that evaluation."
The MHP, on the other hand, had previously announced that it would not attend the session.
