Following the decision of Başak Demirtaş, wife of imprisoned former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, to withdraw her candidacy for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayor, all eyes have turned to the DEM Party.
DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan was expected to announce the IMM candidate today at 14:00 in a press conference.
The meeting has been postponed by 1 hour.
WHOM WILL THE DEM PARTY NOMINATE?
It is being discussed that the DEM Party might nominate one of the following for the IMM candidacy: DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş, Sırrı Sakık, or Ali Kenanoğlu.
