Will the İYİ Party support the CHP's presidential candidate? Müsavat Dervişoğlu explains

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements regarding early election debates.

Speaking to İpek Özbey from Sözcü, Dervişoğlu stated, "By unlawfully imposing his candidacy once again, Erdoğan is 'luring' the actors of the opposition. I say that entering that arena is accepting lawlessness. In that arena, the referee is Erdoğan, and the opponent is Erdoğan. He has the power and the intention to change the rulebook as he pleases. In short, an early election, in this sense, is a trap."

'THE OPPOSITION MUST NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP'

Warning the opposition, Dervişoğlu said, "It is a trap that will create an opportunity for Erdoğan. We must turn an early election, with the right strategy, not into a way for Erdoğan to be a candidate again unlawfully, but into a tool and a path to get rid of this trustee regime. That is my concern. An AK Party Deputy Chairman said an early election could be held in November 2027. If they deemed that date appropriate, if this is a necessity, then Erdoğan also has the authority. Let him take the decision for an election. But they never mention that. Because then he cannot be a candidate again. Therefore, the opposition must not fall into this trap and must act with the right strategy."

'WE WILL SHARE WHEN THE TIME COMES'

When asked, "Will you support the CHP's candidate, or will you field your own candidate?" he replied:

"I am talking about a correct strategy, and with this question, you are asking me to pave the way for something that would play into the hands of the government. When the time comes and the conditions are met, the İYİ Party will share its stance and decision with our nation."
