World communist and workers' parties gathered in Turkey. While the issue of Palestine was addressed at the opening, the meeting began with the participation of communist parties from various countries around the world, with over a hundred delegates in attendance.

STARTED WITH A MOMENT OF SILENCE

The 23rd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, held in İzmir, began today following yesterday's Working Group meeting. The meeting, attended by over a hundred delegates from 68 parties and organizations from 54 countries, including 18 at the general secretary level, began with a moment of silence for the Palestinian citizens who lost their lives in Israeli attacks. Following this, TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan delivered the opening speech.

THE SITUATION IN PALESTINE WAS DISCUSSED

Okuyan began his speech with his party's message of support for the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian people in the face of Israel's massacres. Recalling the thank-you message conveyed to the people of Turkey from the Israeli Embassy following the October 7 raid by Palestinian resistance fighters, Okuyan pointed out that there has been a radical increase in the number of those in Turkey who justify Israel this time.

CUBAN REPRESENTATIVE TARGETED THE US

Taking the floor after Kemal Okuyan, Emilio Lozada García, Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and a deputy of the National Assembly of People's Power, stated that his party proposes a broad solution to the Palestinian issue and advocates for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders. García reminded that the commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba continues to intensify. The Cuban representative stated that they are fighting against this with great ideological strength and unity, and that they have learned that their unity, under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, is their greatest weapon.

THE MEETING WILL CONTINUE WITH CONTRIBUTIONS

At the meeting held in Havana last year, hosted by the Communist Party of Cuba and attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, İzmir was determined as the location for the next meeting. The TKP had previously hosted the meeting in 2015 and jointly with the Communist Party of Greece in 2019. On the first day of the meeting, the program will continue with the contributions and evaluations of the participating parties.
