YENİ Party Istanbul has announced that a "Respect for National Will March" will be held in Istanbul's Çekmeköy district. According to the party's announcement, the march will take place on Wednesday, August 19, at 19:00.
The gathering point for the march has been set as the front of the Çekmeköy Nature Park Main Gate. The procession is planned to start from there and conclude at Madenler Square.
YENİ Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik invited citizens to the march in a call made via his social media account.
"Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation! The people of Çekmeköy are standing up for their will and their honor. Those who do not bow to the tyrannical government are marching for justice, democracy, and the republic."
The call for the march in Çekmeköy comes after CHP Çekmeköy Mayor Orhan Çerkez switched to the AKP on August 1, 2026. AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had pinned the badge on Çerkez.
