Yeniden Refah Party gives sharp response to meeting allegations: 'Reports are untrue'

The Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) has categorically rejected "election condition" allegations that emerged regarding the meeting held last week between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chairman Fatih Erbakan. In a statement, the party emphasized that Erbakan did not make such a request and stated that the reports do not reflect the truth.

The Yeniden Refah Party (YRP) issued a written statement on its social media account regarding the meeting between Chairman Fatih Erbakan and AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The statement emphasized that the allegations brought to the agenda were not true, stating, "The allegations that our Chairman, Mr. Fatih Erbakan, requested certain metropolitan municipalities from President Mr. Erdoğan and demanded that the management of some municipal subsidiaries be given to our party after the election are entirely untrue."

The statement, signed by YRP Deputy Chairman in Charge of Political Affairs Suat Kılıç, expressed that the news and commentary regarding the meeting conducted by the party do not reflect the truth and continued as follows:

"News and commentary based on statements not made by the parties regarding the meeting held by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and our Chairman, Mr. Fatih Erbakan, at the AK Party Headquarters on December 12, 2023, do not reflect the truth. The allegations that our Chairman, Mr. Fatih Erbakan, requested certain metropolitan municipalities from President Mr. Erdoğan and demanded that the management of some municipal subsidiaries be given to our party after the election are entirely untrue. We completely reject these news reports and commentaries, which we believe are intended to undermine our party."

According to the allegations that emerged after the meeting held last week, it was claimed that Fatih Erbakan had requested that Konya be left to the YRP on the condition of supporting the AKP in Istanbul and Ankara. However, the party rejected these allegations, arguing that the reports were intended to undermine the party.
