Yeniden Refah Party Istanbul MP Doğan Bekin stated, "We do not base our policies on the victory or defeat of other political parties. We are not the backyard or the prop of any political party."

Bekin, speaking at a press conference he held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), said that with only days left until the local elections, the public's favor toward his party has gained rapid momentum.

Noting that the ruling party is targeting the Yeniden Refah Party before the elections in order to make people forget the bill for its failures in every field, especially the economy, and that this is unacceptable, Bekin also stated that his party "conducts politics not by clinging to anyone's coattails, but by holding firmly to the principles of Milli Görüş (National View)."

Emphasizing that they have been entering elections for many years with the spirit of Milli Görüş and competing in a gentlemanly manner, Bekin continued his words as follows: "Some political parties, which cannot tolerate our banners funded by the dues our members pay with difficulty, are trying to block our party by tearing down our banners. They may tear down our banners, but they will not be able to tear the spirit of Milli Görüş from the hearts of the voters. Our greatest expectation is that these elections will be completed with common sense and that all political parties will respect the decision our nation will make."
