Yeniden Refah Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Doğan Bekin made statements regarding the March 31 Local Administration General Elections.

Stating that attempts are being made to create a negative perception through fabricated news stories before the election, Bekin said, "The fact that some circles have launched a one-sided attack with chronic verbal sparring, polarizing, divisive, and marginalizing rhetoric, and that self-censorship is being applied in media organizations regarding the right of reply in the face of these reckless attacks, reveals that the center of gravity of politics in Turkey is the Yeniden Refah Party and that the greatest future presidential alternative candidate is Fatih Erbakan."

Claiming that the media does not approach all parties equally, Bekin stated, "The efforts of the 'pool media' to point to the Yeniden Refah Party as the focal point of a potential failure in the March 31, 2024 elections, particularly through Istanbul, by putting forward provocative policies with great panic before the election, are an indicator of a narrow perspective far from reality.

It is a fact that the resort to various methods to break the power of the Yeniden Refah Party, and at the final point, the statements of those who see themselves as a fatwa authority over the Presidency of Religious Affairs, are indicators of the dire situation reached. It is truly a matter of curiosity what stance the Presidency of Religious Affairs will take regarding those who make votes to be cast for the Yeniden Refah Party a subject of fatwas and who generate opinions on this matter," he declared.

Stating that certain public institutions and organizations should remain neutral before the election, Bekin said, "Allegations that managers in some public institutions, which should be neutral before the election, are exceeding their authority and putting pressure on politicians and some circles supporting them reveal a grave situation."

"As the Yeniden Refah Party, we will continue to act within the bounds of courtesy and grace"

Adding that as the Yeniden Refah Party, they stay away from approaches that negatively affect the image of politics, Bekin said, "As the Yeniden Refah Party, we will continue to act with a new understanding within the bounds of courtesy and grace.

In this context, we reiterate that the best answer to all kinds of baseless, fabricated news stories being attempted to be spread before the election will be given at the ballot box, and we express our belief that the March 31, 2024 elections will conclude in the best possible way with the common sense of our nation, and we wish all candidates success."
