'I AM STATING THAT THE DEATH PENALTY SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE AGENDA'

Wishing God's mercy upon 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found after 19 days in Diyarbakır, Erbakan shared his views on the matter as follows:

"May God have abundant mercy on our little Narin; we are truly very saddened. May our nation have our condolences. Regarding this issue, much more serious legal regulations need to be sat down and discussed, and legal arrangements must be implemented through the cooperation of all parties in Parliament, as it is a matter of responsibility for all. At this point, the return of the death penalty to the agenda must absolutely be discussed. We have stated this repeatedly before in terms of deterrence. Especially the murder of children in this way is truly a horrific event. It pains our conscience, and as a nation, we are in deep sorrow. I am stating that the death penalty must be brought to the agenda so that such incidents do not happen again."
