YSK delegation heads to earthquake zone: Current situation to be examined

Supreme Election Council (YSK) Chairman Ahmet Yener and board members are heading to the earthquake zone to examine the current situation on-site. The inspections will begin today in Malatya.

Following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş that affected 11 provinces, the YSK, which took new measures for voters in the disaster region during the Presidential and 28th Term Parliamentary General Elections held on May 14, 2023, has also been conducting preparations for the local elections to be held on March 31.

The YSK delegation, which has been inspecting the measures taken and field studies on-site to ensure the elections can be held properly in the disaster region, has also largely completed its work regarding preparations for the March 31, 2024, local elections.

CURRENT SITUATION TO BE EXAMINED

YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener will travel to the earthquake zone to examine the current situation on-site and determine the final status regarding the condition of schools where voting will take place, as well as containers and technical equipment.

In this context, YSK Chairman Yener will conduct inspections in Malatya today, and YSK members will visit other provinces.

The YSK will continue to evaluate the current situation regarding voting locations and areas where ballot boxes will be set up in the region until March 31.
