HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, who entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly on AKP lists during the May 14 General Elections and is known for his proximity to Hezbollah, made statements regarding the new constitution debates during a television program he attended.

Yapıcıoğlu said, "I explained it one by one as if to a fool, yet they insist on not understanding." Yapıcıoğlu also used similar expressions in an environment where he came together with People's Alliance partners and force commanders at the Malazgirt ceremonies, clearly expressing his opposition to Article 4 of the Constitution.

Yapıcıoğlu continued as follows:

"We say that there should not be a 4th article in the constitution. Let me say it again by looking at the camera. We say there should not be a 4th article of the Constitution. Having unchangeable articles in the Constitution does not mean that we should change all the articles you call unchangeable."

Article 4 of the Constitution emphasizes the unchangeability of the first three articles, which set forth the fundamental characteristics of the Republic of Turkey. Arguing that this article places a mortgage on the will of future generations, Yapıcıoğlu stated that they are open to negotiations on other articles.
